About us
Woods Brasserie, now a very well established restaurant in Cardiff Bay, was our first opening, in 1999. More recently, in 2008, we purchased the Old Swan Inn in Llantwit Major, followed very shortly by the new Conway in Pontcanna, Cardiff, which has now been recognised in the Michelin Pub Guide. We are delighted to be able to welcome Farthings Restaurant, Delicatessen and ‘At Home’ business into the group.
Our ethos is very simple. We cook seasonal, unpretentious food here in our kitchens, (except for the bread, which is baked locally!) and try whenever possible to support local suppliers, with whom we have a long and thriving relationship. Because everything is freshly cooked on site, you will find the menu choices slightly reduced in number, but certainly not in quality. We feel that’s a sacrifice worth making.
Sean Murphy, director and highly inspirational chef himself, is constantly meeting with suppliers, as well as bouncing ideas off his chefs, in order to source and produce creative and delicious ideas for the menus in all 4 sites. His co-director Serge Luceau oversees the selection of our wines and beverages and takes responsibility for the staff looking after you, insisting on a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable service. We are delighted to welcome Rudy Filliau back to Farthings as general manager, a face many of you will recognise.
